Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in life.

Observations from the cheap seats.

It's not my day job, but as I've stated before I am an observer of people.  My day job unknowingly facilitates that, because I get to travel and constantly come in contact with different people from all varying walks of life. In the last week I've met a slew of them.

First of all, thank you. Thank you to each and everyone of you for demonstrating how different and similar we humans can actually be. Then... an apology: to the woman I mistook for a Hispanic, my bad.  Honestly, I feel horrible about that.  The one who shared with me that her husband was in the beginning stages of dementia, I'm so sorry that you and your family are going through that.  To the woman I met at the pool who just like me wanted to steal 15 minutes to enjoy the view, I salute you, my fellow, stop-and-smell-the-flowers lady. To the beautiful woman that was nervously fixing her blouse and earrings in the bathroom because she was on her 1st date with someone she really likes, thank you for being so honest and transparent with a total stranger, I meant it when I said that you looked beautiful and chances are that you were bringing more to that date than just your looks.

The point is... I talked to A LOT of people in the last 7 days and came away with some observations/ suggestions:

  1. True stories are usually the funniest.
  2. Not all Uber drivers are awesome.
  3. Stopping to "smell the flowers" is essential on any road trip, just... Be careful not to stop short on the side of a mountain.
  4. Trust the lady picking the restaurants, if she's my sister.
  5. Hug a stanger, you'll be fine.
  6. Always carry a switchblade.
  7. Go meet people that treat your family well.  Chances are they are cool a$% people.
  8. Always sing at the Karaoke bar.
  9. It's ok for a mom to take a time-out; Replenish, reinvigorate and then... get back out there champ.
  10. Always be grateful.  I don't care how "well-off" or "rich" you are; if you don't say "thank you" you're an asshole.

Some observations from the cheap seats. I get to meet a lot of cool people and a lot of el douche people.  However, the similar thread is that, that's what we all are, people.  Running in our individual hamster wheels trying to figure things out.

Being a parent. Yeah, that's all I got.
